Now I know New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2018 just wrapped so you have spring trends on the mind but there’s already trends happening in our season right now! Autumn calls for new fashion trends and new book releases! I am so excited to read these new releases and try out some new fall fashion trends. Go ahead and pick you favorite fall fashion trend from below and also get a book recommendation.
The Trend: Belted Coats
Alexander McQueen Fall 2017
A big long coat doesn’t look too boxy when belted at the waist. This is a super easy trend to try out and the wider the belt the better! For extra edge, add a belt to your black leather jacket just like Katharine from Three Darks Crowns would. In this anticipated sequel, One Dark Throne, we will finally see which sister will win the throne! If you haven’t read Three Dark Crowns yet, now is definitely the time to pick up this engulfing story about a set of powerful triplets competing to the death to become queen. Each sister has her own gift, Arsinoe is a Naturalist (good with animals and plants), Mirabella is an Elemental (thunder and lighting baby!), and Katharine is a Poisoner (I wouldn’t drink the wine if I were you). Bring on the royal drama! One Dark Throne is out on September 19, you can preorder it here.
The Trend: Fluffy Fur
Nina Ricci Fall 2017
Come on, you know you want the opportunity to walk around looking like a muppet at least once in your life! Try a fluffy pink faux fur coat for a little winter pastel, just like this cover of There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins. But beware, fluffy and soft do not describe this horror novel where students at Osborne High are dying one by one in a terrifying fashion. This spooky book comes out on September 26, you can preorder it here.
The Trend: Fall Florals
Ralph Lauren Fall 2017
Florals have become a print that you can wear year-round, and there’s nothing like a good fall floral in warm orange and yellow tones. If you feel like fall florals are the trend for you, consider picking up Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart which came out on September 5th. This unreliable tale of twists and turns is sure to be a novel full of suspense.
The Trend: Metallics
Bottega Veneta Fall 2017
In the mood for a futuristic Gossip Girl? Check out the Dazzling Heights series by Katharine McGee. This the sequel to The Thousandth Floor which surrounds a group of elite teenagers living in 2118 in New York City. Bring on the scandal.
The Trend: Red Hot
Victoria Beckham Fall 2017
I’m always down for a good fantasy read involving a princess in a kingdom, so The Glass Spare is definitely on my reading list for this fall. Author Lauren DeStefano is a champ at fantasy writing, and I really enjoyed reading her books The Chemical Garden trilogy. This book is out on October 24th, and you can preorder it here.
The Trend: 70’s Plaid
Botega Veneta Fall 2017
John Green finally wrote another book! Turtles All the Way Down is about Aza and the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett and a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake. Along with her friend Daisy they investigate and meet Russell Pickett’s son, Davis. There’s no doubt that this book will be full of heart wrenching and hilarious moments. This book is out on October 10th and you can preorder it here.
