Friday Five | Creepy Podcasts for October

As a New Yorker, I spend about half of my time on the subway with the rest of the city. When you’re stuck in a packed subway card that feels and smells like a sardine can it can be difficult to pull out a book to read. The solution? It’s podcast time. Since it’s October and I’m a huge fan of podcasts, today I’ll be sharing with you a few of my creepy and kooky favorites.

The Black Tapes

This paranormal fictional show was so good I thought it was following a true story at first. Make sure you don’t listen to this one at night alone! Don’t let the demons get ya and think twice before listening to that “unsound” tape. Join Alex as she investigates the Strand Institute and deals with the paranormal skeptic Richard Strand. Ghosts, demons, and cults await.

Martinis and Murder

This true crime podcast is produced by oxygen and is similar to the cult favorite My Favorite Murder. I’ve been listening to this one more lately though because they talk less about themselves (and politics too) and focus on the actual true crime stories they are telling. Plus the hosts are super funny and have a different cocktail recipe each episode!

Cold Case Files The Podcast

This perfectly timed 30-45 minute podcast is the perfect taste of true crime to start your day off. Cold Case Files is from A&E and tells the same stories that are told on the new season of the tv show of the same name.

Limetown

This intense series of what happens to an entire town that just magically vanished one day will keep you hooked. Government conspiracies anyone?

Homecoming

Experimental treatments on soldiers returning from war? A rogue social worker at the treatment center? This all star cast (including Ross from Friends!) makes for a super entertaining and at times intense story. Season 2 just recently came out this year! You’ll be hooked.

Up and Vanished

This podcast actually played a part in solving the cold case of Tara Grimstead. An arrest has even been made! The podcast host really asks the tough questions and boy does he get some interesting answers.

Someone Knows Something

Enjoy Canadian accents and super old cold cases files and the quest for the truth! I suggest listening to Season 2 first, as Season 1 is kind of dull and not too much happens.

Check out what was in my shopping cart this week too!
