As it is my last year in college, my friends and I are determined to take in as much as we can of our college town area. Akron is known as the birthplace of Goodyear Tires, which was founded by the Seiberling family. The Seiberling family lived in a gorgeous manor and gardens located in Akron. They called it the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, and you can still visit there today! It’s open year round, but this time of year they have an amazing Christmas light display.
This year’s theme for the house is Christmas stories, so each room in the manor is decorated and themed after a different Christmas story! My favorite rooms were the Grinch bedroom and the Rudolph great hall room. Each room also had its own Christmas tree, so it was amazing to see how all the different trees were decorated – I wish I would have counted how many there were!
You must try the gingerbread cookies! They are made from the Seiberling family recipe and are delicious. They’re even served warm.
What Christmas attraction is your hometown known for?
