Hi there! I know you’re used to reading posts from Tracie, so first let me introduce myself. My name is Ali, the lady behind Tracie’s camera for her last semester at Kent State, before she moved to the amazing New York City. I spent my summer exploring my hometown Columbus, Ohio – Cbus for short. I’ve put together a little guide for all of you bookworm/ fashionistas out there to enjoy. Columbus has many great neighborhoods to explore, but I have narrowed it down to my top two favorites for you… German Village and The Short North!
The Book Loft: This iconic Columbus book store has 32 rooms, each dedicated to a different genre of books. It is truly an experience to visit this place! Walking through it is like a maze, full of floor to ceiling book cases, and all of the books are so interesting. It’s also a great place to play hide and seek if you go with a group of friends, just saying.
Stauf’s Coffee Roasters: After you’ve picked out a book at the Book Loft, just walk right next door to one of the greatest local coffee shops Cbus has to offer. This coffee shop has been around since 1988 and truly brews some great coffee (my favorite drink is the Buckeye Chill).
Pistacia Vera: Just by walking down the street from The Book Loft and Stauf’s you’ll end up at Pistacia Vera (one of my all-time favorite spots in Cbus). Not only is the entire building aesthetically pleasing, but the pastries are seriously soo good. From croissants to macaroons, they’ve got everything to please your sweet tooth.
The Short North
While you walk through the sidewalks of The Short North you will see many wonderful restaurants and boutiques, but today I will be sharing a few of my favorites.
Rose Bredl: Stop and smell the roses, literally! This cute little flower and garden studio is so adorable, they make bouquets and flower arrangements for weddings and even sell fresh flowers in the store.
Rowe Boutique: There are so many cute boutiques lining the streets of The Short North, but Rowe has to be my favorite. The store has been open since 2007 and the owner, Maren, is the absolute sweetest! All of the clothing in the store is geared toward fashion forward consumers and comes from new and contemporary designers.
Native Cold Pressed: If you are looking for a healthy option, Native is here for you, it’s even organic! They have many different juices, smoothies, and acai bowls to choose from, keeping everyone happy and healthy. The bowls are also great for a photo op!
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams: I just couldn’t write a post about Columbus without adding the classic Jeni’s in! She makes the best flavors and the shop is the cutest. Whether you try Brambleberry Crisp, Wildberry Lavender, The Milkiest Chocolate in the World, or any of her other wacky flavors, you’ll surely love what you order.
Me trying to be cool like Tracie and do a shoes and books photo, lol! My shoes are by Adidas and are perfect for walking around the city, and my book is The Way She Wears It, by Dallas Shaw. This was one of my summer reads and I absolutely loved it! It’s a great confidence builder if you love wearing clothes that stand out against the norm.
Thanks for following me around my town, and now back to regular programing!
Until next time,
